About the event

Did you know the building and construction sector accounts for 39% of global emissions? Embodied carbon in the production of building materials is responsible for 28% of these emissions.

The Queensland Government is committed to delivering a climate positive Olympic and Paralympic Games by minimising direct and indirect carbon emissions.

But how will the significant emissions produced by building six new venues, upgrading eight venues and preparing 23 existing or temporary venues be offset?

A solution is to maximise the use of timber and engineered wood products when building venues, villages, landscape architecture and streetscapes. Using engineered timber can cut construction-related embodied carbon emissions by as much as 75% when compared with conventional steel and concrete.

Don’t miss this webinar which will examine how stadiums, villages and venues can utilise timber products and significantly assist the carbon budget being developed to deliver a climate positive Olympic and Paralympic Games
